Pathologist

A physician who diagnoses disease by examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids in a laboratory. Pathologists analyze biopsies, surgical specimens, and autopsies to identify cancers, infections, and other conditions. They play a critical behind-the-scenes role in nearly every diagnosis.

You will not typically see a pathologist directly — they work behind the scenes analyzing your biopsy or lab results and reporting findings to your treating physician.
