A physician who specializes in anesthesia care, pain management, and critical care medicine. Anesthesiologists administer anesthesia before, during, and after surgical procedures, and also manage acute and chronic pain conditions.

You will be referred to an anesthesiologist before any surgery requiring anesthesia. They also manage chronic pain conditions and work in intensive care units.
